Hey! Thanks for visiting “The Ignited” - the website for the young people of Christ Temple UPC in North Phoenix/Glendale AZ
If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
We rolled up to this years Arizona District Youth Convention nearly 20 deep - thankfully this trip I had the foresight to arrange for a full-size 15 passenger van in addition to our own uber-cool minivan. Last trip was a real sardine pack (sorry) - this trip was a great deal more comfortable. We had room for everyone, and everyones luggage and no one had to draw straws on who would ride on the roof rack. Oh - and the vans both had CD players so we got to rock all the way to Tucson.
It’s fair to note that Ramon supplied the tunage for the guys van (guys took the 15 pass, girls rode in the mini with Sis Cheryl). At one point he tried to get us religious with a preaching CD but was outvoted in favor of some Fred Hammond. Heathens. (jk)
Soon after we arrived in Tucson we had a slightly panicked exchange with the desk clerks about our rooms being seperated across multiple floors on opposite ends of the hotel (instead of connecting rooms as we requested) - However, the dust settled and the hotel staff shuffled a few reservations and managed to get us all on the same floor. Crisis averted, blood pressure back to normal - Holy Ghost & testimony still in tact! Yah!Â
We had a blast on this trip, Chito and Michael (a young man from my parents church - The Lighthouse Church in Apache Junction) had us laughing non-stop. My sides are still aching (echscoos mhee? << inside joke). Jayne and Jessica jousted, Camaron (who joined us this year as a chaperone) was ‘out-sumoed’ by a girl. (Cameron, always the gentleman, let her win I’m sure - heh). Jordon finally ran into an old friend he might have missed except for the help of his fellow Ignited. (heh)
Not only did we have a blast this trip, we touched heaven too. The theme for this years Arizona District Youth Convention was H2O: His 2 Own! The services were fantastic, with annointed singing, open worship and Scott Graham(AKA Uncle Scotty - former UPCI Youth President) preaching his heart out. Our young people were moved through-out the services and allowed God to minister to them. I dare say a few found a personal Bethel during this trip. Chico was introduced to pentecostal worship and more importantly to Jesus. Michael(TLC youth - or as we call it now ‘Ignited East’) found an alter of re-consecration and set up a new spiritual landmark.
Our young men know how to crack you up, but as they prayed for one another I saw a rising maturity in their sensitivity to the Spirit and their support for one another. Our young ladies are among the most beautiful girls around and moreso as they grow to embrace holiness. Sis Cheryl mentioned a young lady who chose to ’sew up a split’, not at the direction of the pastor or a fretting youth leader, but because she felt compelled to do so out of her own conviction.
Thank you to all the parents who allowed your teens to come. We had a great time. We laughed, we cried, we praised, we prayed - we grew.
Continue to support our young people as we grow in Christ. Parents hold fast to the landmarks you’ve set as we strive to find ours, keep the boundries of holiness as we struggle to define ours, lift us up in prayer as we learn to pray.
